I have such fascinating things to show you......

...says Nexus-Prince Shaffar in the Mana Tombs dungeon in World Of Warcraft.  It was almost a year ago, that I tried the trial version of WoW and it has since become probably too big a part of my life.  I am not alone in this, however, as there are many others who enjoy the game as much as I do.

What is World Of Warcraft?  I think that there are as many answers as there are people.  The game has such an immense scope and there are so many ways to play it, that there is indeed something in it for most everyone.

From the WoW official site:

World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world. World of Warcraft is a "Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game" which allows thousands of players to interact within the same world. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles, players will form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory.

Unique races, classes and a beautifully designed world are just the start.  You can play versus the environment, versus other players, or play in role playing realms.  You can run through the thousands of different quests, some of which tell elaborate stories, or you can focus on running dungeons, where you group with other people to work together to achieve a goal.  You can join a guild where you might form fast friendships while working together, or just group with random players (which can be alternately fulfilling and extremely frustrating.)  You can play the auction house and make gold in the WoW economy or maybe just hang around the populated areas, duelling and generally goofing off having fun.  Perhaps you like to explore, or level your professions, or create havoc in another factions city, or....well, you get the idea.

This game is immense, and beautiful, and scary, and very very immersive.   I remember fighting the last boss in the Nexus dungeon, and close to death, Keristrasza yells, "Finish it! Finish it! Kill me, or I swear by the Dragonqueen you'll never see daylight again!"  When she says, "Finish it!!" the voice acting is so perfect, it cuts right through you.  While escaping from the Lich King in Halls Of Reflection a few times, so close to wiping (the term for everyone dying,) we finally escaped, and after that I realized my heart was pounding and hands shaking from the excitement.  It was very similar to watching an incredible movie, except that you are participating in the action.  It is times like these that fill me in awe with what the developers have done here.

So what am I doing here?  Well, I hope to show you "such fascinating things," and maybe even help out some with the basics of the game.  I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination.  I may very well be a noob even, but that is another post (where I describe the WoW community, which is not all angels and light.)   What I hope to do is show you my journey here in the world of Azeroth, have some fun, and maybe even provide some help.
